On June 26, 2024, China's Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. (CNOOC) began construction of the Qatar ISND5-2 project at the Qingdao International Equipment Production Base.
The Qatar ISND5-2 project, developed and financed by the Qatar Energy Company, is located in the maritime zone 80 kilometers east of the Qatar Peninsula in the Arabian Gulf.
The maximum water depth in the project area is about 35 meters. The scope of work of this project is extremely broad, covering the entire process from design to commissioning, of 3 wellhead platforms weighing 1,300 tons, the laying of 9 marine pipelines, the installation of 5 umbilical cables and the construction of 4 subsea skids.
The project also includes the transformation of existing platform structures into service to ensure the smooth operation of the entire project.
Ju Wenjie, senior project manager of the ISND5-2 EPC project in Qatar, said the total construction period is 43 months and the contract amount is about 2.216 billion Qatari riyals, or about 4.437 billion yuan.
As this is an international offshore oil and gas EPC project, its implementation is of great importance to the development of Chinese marine engineering in the international arena.
