Has Germany paved the way for "European rearmament"?

In recent times, German armaments have become an important option for many European countries to replenish their arms stocks, and the number of orders received by military industry companies has reached a new high.

The German Bundeswehr also participates "relentlessly" in various types of military exercises, such as the so-called "European Pillar of Defense and Security."

The recent trend toward outsourcing the German armed forces is evident, not only because of regional conflicts and other external factors, but also because the Scholz government has been playing the "defense performance card" politically, trying to reverse the decline of its own government.

The European defense system is a test

This is because the KNDS Defense Group, a joint venture in Germany and France, has developed the main version of the "Leopard 2" vehicle, the "Leopard 2A-RC3.0" vehicle, and has also developed the main vehicle support for the country, for the development of the main vehicle arm for France, which is an important development. At present, the vehicle has the ability to provide defense services in Britain, Italy, Norway and Poland.

Facendo eco also has the main features of the "Leopard 2" vehicle series With the acquisition of more than 100 European countries, the company also sold its products to European buyers. The Republic spent 52 million euros per share (circa 2.25 million US dollars) on 77 car loans from Leopard 2A8. As for central Europe, it was also possible to acquire a large amount of car loans from European manufacturers, which also applies to Baltic countries, the Romanian Eurozone metropolitan area and the Svezia Eurozone settlement. In addition, France and Estonia also decided to continue to focus on the overall efficiency of the project. System of designing IRIS-T spacecraft for use in this factory.

Taking advantage of the strategic anxiety of some countries and the "emptiness" of their arsenals, Germany, therefore, is using arms sales transactions as a means to include many countries in a joint arms purchasing system centered on itself.

In addition to launching a new version of the "Leopard" tank through a joint venture and "caging" rival France, the German military-industrial complex, with government support, also sent technical consultants to the Czech Republic and the Baltics to seek joint factories to incorporate them into the German military system.

During the International Aerospace Show in Berlin in early June, Scholz took photos in front of various weapons and personally promoted the export of weapons and equipment. He said Germany will order 20 Eurofighters on the basis of the purchase of F-35 fighter jets and will also provide long-term support for the development of the military industry. Germany has once again purchased large quantities of European fighter jets after a gap of four years, aiming to further revitalize the commercial military market. Berlin has turned its attention to the European military aviation industry, which is undergoing iterative upgrades, aiming to fill the gap caused by the withdrawal of F-16 fighter jets from many countries. In addition to the Spanish and Italian air forces showing interest in the Eurofighter, African and Middle Eastern countries have also expressed their intention to collaborate.

Currently, German Rheinmetall has built factories in the Baltic Sea and Eastern European countries, responsible for the production of 155 mm artillery shells and the maintenance of infantry fighting vehicles "Weasel".

This is regarded by the outside world as "an important step for the German military industry towards the opening of the European industrial chain".

Some German media said that with the expansion of export sales channels of military products, the "exit" of the German military industry has become an inevitable trend, which will help achieve the unification of interests in the field of diplomacy of the defense.

Acceleration of military export

In addition to the military industry, to strengthen the influence of the sector, the Bundeswehr has also accelerated the military export process. After participating in the "Staunch Defender - 2024" and other large-scale NATO military exercises, Germany hosted NATO large-scale air combat exercises in June, code-named "Tiger," of 11 NATO member states and Switzerland, Austria. Two non-NATO member states conducted 11 days of air combat training.

Germany's two permanent military bases in Lithuania were officially opened, the first group of personnel were deployed, and it is also the first time since World War II that Germany has permanently deployed troops abroad. 4,800 military personnel and 200 civilians will be deployed to the bases after they become fully operational in 2027. In July this year, the German Defense Ministry will build on the EU's "Strategic Compass" action plan, the formation of 2,500 personnel of the European Rapid Reaction Force, first deployed on the territory of Poland, and will also expand the size of the force in the future.

In addition to accelerating the European military buildup, Germany will also extend its "tentacles" to the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region.

Germany is the initiator of the EU's Red Sea escort action "Shield," the first batch of operational "Hessian" frigate ships completed their return mission. In June, the two German frigates crossed the Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean and Hawaii to participate in the joint military exercises "Rim of the Pacific-2024," during which time they first docked at Japan's port to refuel, and with the Indian Navy to hold a maritime training. In the same month, the German Air Force sent several batches of fighter and transport jets to the Asia-Pacific region for a two-month overseas training period to participate in "Paint it Black" and "Kakadu" and other exercises, but also plans to hold joint flight training with the Japan Air Self-Defence Force

Part of the foreign media is questioning Germany's recent increasingly active military dynamics. On the one hand, the German military industry has been in a state of "continuous rotation," even so, part of the export equipment to 2035 to be delivered, the benefits of the battlefield relatively late. In the context of increased supply pressure, the "pragmatic profitability" as the target of the production capacity of the development of ideas, will change the mode of operation of German production, to some extent reducing German R&D and innovation in weapons and equipment. On the other hand, the frigate "Hessian" in its overseas deployment has suffered frequent accidents, also showing that Germany's export-oriented military development strategy has shortcomings.

The political map of "defense performance"

Germany's frequent arms campaign is a practical move by the Scholz government to play the "defense performance card". Thanks to the European Parliament elections, a new wave of conservatism has emerged in Europe, and Scholz's ruling party also suffered a defeat in the regional elections. Furthermore, due to weak economic recovery measures and a lack of diplomatic highlights, Scholz faces greater pressure to govern.

In this context, foreign arms sales have become a very important political objective for Germany. German Foreign Minister Berberk said that through large-scale support for arms sales and additional purchases, Made in Germany reflects the country's values and influence and provides support for Berlin's role in European defense integration and in other matters.

Germany's operations abroad are also in line with the defense line preached by Scholz. Scholz has always supported the development of European defense within the framework of NATO and followed US military actions step by step. However, there is an obvious dispute between this and the European independent defense strategy supported by France. Ideological differences between Germany and France can influence the process of building European integrated defense.

Germany's moves on armaments, however, could have a demonstrative effect in Europe and other regions, giving rise to the phenomenon of "European rearmament".
